TREAT - THE WILD CARD

The Wild card is the tenth studio album since the bands debut, Scratch and bite in 1985, and in 2025 Treat celebrates a 40 year anniversary as a recording and live artist! An impressive journey only a few bands in melodic rock genre have achieved. Joining founding members Robert Ernlund(lead vocals) and Anders”Gary”Wikström(Guitars/vocals) are once again Jamie Borger(Drums), Patrick Appelgren(Keyboards/vocals) and Nalle Påhlsson(Bass/Vocals) a line up that’s been together since the 1980´s.

The Wild card comprises a 13 songs in total and is the result of a two year writing and recording process together with longtime Producer Peter Mansson at several studios in Stockholm,Sweden

Kicking off with the Heavy yet melodic ”Out with a bang” the band sets the bar for what’s to come, and to name a few ”Adam & Evil” and ”1985” taking the listener back to early days  where the Treat saga began with a blast. ”Endeavour” a modern melodic anthem, to ”Hand on Heart” a fast guitar riff driven gem to ” Heaven´s Waiting” maybe the bands finest mid tempo rocker in ages, to ”Back to the future” which showcases the bands superiority in big choruses. Treat have even managed to make a tribute to their 70´s heroes with the the big ballad  ”Your Majesty” and squeezed every inch of creativity into epic rock songs like ”Mad Honey” and the albums closer ”One minute to breathe” The Wild card is just not an album, it’s a collection of songs reminiscent of the bands whole catalog so far.

Anders explains:
I set out to write an album that would be a musical timeline for our whole career and it carries the message in each song both musically and lyrically. The Wild Card takes the band full circle, something that I actually had in mind with the last album ”The Endgame” and have now completed.

”What makes The Wild Card different from previous Treat albums to date?
Anders: First of all, to have freedom not to have to prove anything for anyone but to please ourselves. We made this album for us and the fans, and we do become better at what we do together with our Producer Peter Mansson in the studio, I mean, Peter have worked with us for 15 years and knows us inside out by now, and If I explain a vision to him, he will work his butt off to make that happen! He ´s just not a producer anymore, more like a sixth member of the band.

Anders continues:
This is the first album we’ve made that actually has a story timeline imbedded, somewhat subtle but still there, starting from the early 80`s up until now, and every song stands on their own in a collection of the best songs we could muster. I have never written so many songs for a Treat album before and we had a very democratic procedure picking the best ones.

”How do you still find inspiration for yet another Treat album?
Anders: I love the guys in the band and we have a great time both onstage and off, but I also follow a lot of what goes on in the world from every possible angle, Music, politics, etc and are constantly looking for ideas to spice up lyrics and melody lines with. That’s very important if you want to call yourself a real songwriter, I think.

But it’s also kinda cool that five guys our age still can show younger bands how to do it:-)

Some people thought that our last album” The Endgame” was supposed to be our last but here we are with The Wild card up our sleeve, so you never know with us, The train keeps on rolling but one day it will stop for sure, and we will go out on top of our game!

Anders: I´m really proud of ”The Wild card” ,in my mind it’s the strongest collection of songs we’ve put out since I can’t remember, and we spent a long time getting it right and everybody in the band is really showcasing their best ability on this record and worked  really hard and proud to make this very special and we have invested everything we’ve got in the best studios and surrounding ourselves with the best Producer,Mastering engineer and Artwork artist we can find, to make the bands legacy memorable.
